About Catriona

I am an enthusiastic, caring primary school teacher with over 4 years experience. I love my job and have been lucky enough to teach throughout the school.

I am currently teaching primary 1 but am familiar with the entire primary curriculum. I have taught at all primary levels (early, first and second). I have a wide range of skills so would be happy to tutor any area of the primary curriculum.

I have been on child protection courses and am up to date with all of the current policies surrounding children and education. I also have an up to date PVG.

I have a passion for languages and studied French at university and can also speak some Spanish.

Well-being is at the heart of my practice and I work hard to build up a strong relationship with all of the children I teach and tutor that is built on mutual trust and respect. I want to learn about the children and use their interests to help shape their learning. Ultimately, I want to help them to be confident and enjoy their learning.

I have a BA Honours in Primary Education with a specialism in French. As well as teaching, I have previously tutored, babysat and run summer camps.

I look forward to helping young learners to build their confidence in their work and provide them 1-1 time to help them to achieve their goals.

About the lesson

As a teacher, I have lots of experience planning and executing lessons in a range of subjects.

I initially like to assess the ability of the child in front of me so that I can personalise my planning. Although I am assessing them, this will not look like a sit-down test and will instead be through games, conversations and activities in the first session.

I also like to get to know the child's interests and use this to inform my planning also.

Lessons will be engaging, fun and include lots of different elements including games, written jobs and other activities.
