About Iain
I studied an MA (Hons) in Mathematics at the University of St Andrews and obtained an MSc (Distinction) in Statistics at the University of Sheffield. I've taught both in the UK and abroad, working with students new to secondary school and needing help adjusting to new curricula as well as older students looking to improve their grades for GCSE and A-Level exams.
I live in Sheffield and am currently working towards my PhD as a mature student at the university there. My field of study is climate modelling, a really important area of research in today's world. Living so close to the Peak District I'm an avid hiker, and also enjoy learning languages, reading, swimming, and playing badminton.

I've been tutoring and teaching maths and statistics for over 15 years, across a range of ages - from pupils new to secondary level maths and needing help adjusting through to GCSE and A-Level students wanting to achieve their best possible grade.
I've taught in secondary schools and at university level and understand the difficulties students of maths can face. I use this experience to explain tough topics in an easy-to-understand way, and use examples and practice problems to build confidence.
Classes are typically one hour, with homework set to consolidate learning and offer practice in between sessions.
