About Mia
A bit about me, I am on the tail-end of my freshman year in college, studying the intersections of environmental science and sustainable energy, as well as pursuing music.
During my high school career, I took AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and AP French, receiving high scores. I find that discussion-based learning really boosts confidence in a subject, which I can attribute to those successes.
In music, I have been section leader in trombone and cello for orchestra, jazz, pit band, playing a variety of styles, and lead trombone in Maine All-State Jazz with improvisation experience.
I am deeply passionate about helping others find confidence in their subjects, but also inspiration from their studies; I hope by not only covering the essentials of these subjects and going over real-world applications, students can find enjoyment in studying!!
Thank you!

Hello friends!
My teaching styles really are fluid with the student; personally, I am huge believer in discussion and visual learning.
I have personal tutoring training with high school students, which looks like:
1. Review of current lesson
2. Interactive drawing and discussion
3. Working through practise problems and assigning homework
For younger students, I find that these tactics are helpful:
1. Prompts to read out questions and draw diagrams
2. Fun mneumonics to retain important information
3. Assigning homework that is creative-based, such as making mini research projects or diagrams.
