About Ricky
I earned a first-class undergraduate degree in biochemistry in 2012 and a PhD in biological sciences in 2016. Additionally, I have five years' experience writing A-level biology papers for a major British examination board and have marked GCSE and A-level biology papers for seven years. Working as an assessment specialist has given me first-hand insight into the assessment cycle, starting with the writing of examination material right through to post-results analysis. This means I have a deep understanding of how exam boards want candidates to answer their exam paper questions and I can offer valuable insights to my students to help boost their chances of exam success. I have tutored British and non-British school and university students for the past three years.

I discuss the learning needs of my students in advance of each lesson and plan the lesson accordingly. If a student needs to learn a topic from scratch, I prepare an interactive learning exercise and set exam-style questions to consolidate the students' understanding of the topic. To develop a students' exam technique, I deconstruct exam questions from past papers and guide the student through the main steps of answering the question, drawing on my experience of authoring exam questions and marking papers.
