About Dr Dan K

I offer online tuition in GAMSAT preparation and biomedical sciences, with a strong focus on structured learning, reasoning, and exam technique.

For GAMSAT students, my teaching is tailored and strongly problem-solving focused. I work with students across all three sections, helping them break difficult questions down properly, interpret unfamiliar passages and data, improve written expression where needed, and develop a calmer, more methodical way of working under pressure. My main strengths lie in the biomedical and medical sciences. I teach subjects such as biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and medicine-related university modules, with an emphasis on organising knowledge properly, understanding difficult concepts clearly, and reasoning through problems rather than relying on rote memorisation alone.

My background includes medicine, biochemistry, pharmacology, statistics, and medical education. I hold a medical degree from the University of Limerick, a PhD in Pharmacology/Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin, a BA (Moderatorship) in Natural Sciences from Trinity College Dublin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from Trinity College Dublin, and a Postgraduate Award in Medical Education from the University of Warwick. I am also a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and the Royal Society of Biology (MRSB). I also have substantial experience teaching GAMSAT students in one-to-one and small-group settings, alongside broader university and clinical teaching experience.

Sessions are delivered online and can be adapted to exam preparation, ongoing coursework, or a longer-term study plan.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, student-centred, and tailored to the individual. For GAMSAT candidates, I focus on reasoning, problem solving, passage interpretation, and exam technique across all three sections. Sessions are designed to help students break difficult questions down properly, improve written expression where needed, and develop a calmer, more methodical approach under pressure.

For biomedical and medicine-related subjects, I teach in a clear and organised way, with an emphasis on understanding difficult concepts properly rather than memorising them superficially. Lessons can be adapted to exam preparation, coursework support, or longer-term study planning.

The first session is used to identify the student’s goals, academic background, and main strengths and weaknesses. This is important in allowing sessions to be tailored properly from the outset. Where appropriate, I also provide follow-up guidance, workbook materials, or a concise summary of the key points covered.

Perfect! Dr Dan is an absolute gentleman and puts a lot of effort into preparing for his sessions. I would recommend any student requiring help in the Science subjects, regardless of your level to contact him. Dr Dan provides the first lesson for free and is very accommodating to students who have limited free time. (i.e working full time)
