About Ruhena

I have taught English for over 8 years at Secondary and Post- 16 level. Prior to teaching I have supported many clients with proofreading dissertations, academic essays, writing personal statements and providing preparation and support to public speakers. I have tutored privately on a one to one basis and also in a group setting for a government- funded youth organisation; I have a 100% pass rate (A*- C/ grades 9- 5).

About the lesson

My primary goal as a practitioner is to gauge what level of understanding my student has before building on this together. I have fantastic questioning skills which my students value in being able to deduce how much they have understood before moving on from a topic.
I plan thoroughly, assess progress throughout my sessions at a timely pace and adapt my teaching where appropriate to fully cater to my students. Providing next steps (actions) and praising where students have been successful are embedded in my teaching practice and I believe this harbours a positive rapport between myself and my students.
