About Rachel

I am an experienced certified teacher with over 10 years of classroom experience supporting students in English, reading, writing, academic skills, and foundational math. My background as a special education teacher has given me strong experience helping students who need clear explanations, extra patience, structure, and a step-by-step approach to learning.

I understand that students often need more than someone who can give them the answer. They need someone who can explain the process, help them organize their thinking, and build their confidence along the way. My teaching style is patient, professional, and supportive, while still holding students accountable for learning and growth.

I have worked with middle school and high school students in whole-class, small-group, and one-on-one settings. I am comfortable adapting lessons to fit a student’s needs, whether they are trying to catch up, strengthen a specific skill, prepare for an assignment or test, or simply feel less overwhelmed by schoolwork.

My goal is to create a learning space where students feel respected, supported, and capable. I believe students make the most progress when lessons are clear, expectations are reasonable, and they are given strategies they can use independently over time.

About the lesson

My English lessons are designed for students who need clear, structured support with reading, writing, grammar, literature, and academic confidence. I help students understand not only what they are learning, but how to think through the skill so they can become stronger, more independent learners.

A typical English lesson may include reading comprehension practice, writing support, grammar review, essay planning, paragraph structure, literary analysis, vocabulary development, or help with a specific assignment. I begin by identifying what the student is working on and where they are getting stuck. Then I break the skill into manageable steps, model the process, guide the student through practice, and help them apply the strategy with more independence.

What sets my lessons apart is my background as a certified English and special education teacher. I have over 10 years of experience helping middle and high school students who need concepts explained clearly, assignments broken down, and writing tasks made less overwhelming. I am patient, direct, and supportive, but I also believe students need structure, accountability, and practical strategies they can use beyond one lesson.

My English lessons are a good fit for middle school and high school students who need help with reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, literary analysis, written responses, organization, homework support, test preparation, or general academic confidence. My goal is to help students feel less confused, more capable, and more prepared to handle English assignments on their own.
