About Amirah

Hi! My name is Amirah, and I’m a an incoming college freshman at New York University. I graduated from The Bronx High School of Science with strong experience in math, science, and academic tutoring-style support. I ended my high school career with a 95 GPA. I offer online tutoring in mathematics, algebra, geometry, precalculus, and chemistry, helping students build confidence and truly understand the material—not just memorize it.

I have a strong academic background in advanced STEM coursework and real experience working in structured learning environments, including research and healthcare-related programs. I understand how to explain complex topics in a simple, step-by-step way that makes learning easier and less stressful.

My goal is to help students improve their grades, prepare for exams, and develop strong problem-solving skills. I focus on patience, clarity, and adapting my teaching style to each student’s needs.

I can help with:

Homework support
Test and quiz preparation
Concept explanations from basics to advanced topics
Building long-term understanding in math and chemistry

I am fluent in English and Bengali, which can also help support bilingual students if needed.

Let’s make math and chemistry feel a lot more manageable—and even enjoyable!

As an incoming college freshman with a strong interest in math and helping others, I enjoy working with younger students to build their confidence and understanding in the subject. My tutoring style is all about patience, encouragement, and finding the best way to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to the student. I like to keep lessons interactive by asking questions throughout and encouraging students to explain their thought process. I believe students learn best when they’re actively engaged, not just listening to someone talk. I use examples from real life to make abstract concepts more relatable and easier to understand. If a student doesn’t get something right away, I’ll try a different explanation or use visual aids, like number lines or drawings, to help make the idea clearer. A typical session starts with a quick review of what the student learned last time. Then, we move into new material, which I usually break down into small steps. I always make sure to go at the student’s pace. We do practice problems together, and then I let the student try some on their own. At the end of the lesson, I’ll go over any mistakes and give a short preview of what we’ll cover next time. I also like to leave a few problems for them to try between sessions. I think what sets me apart is that I remember what it was like to struggle with certain topics. I’m not that far from where the younger students are, so I can relate to their experience and explain things in a way that feels less intimidating. I also bring a lot of energy and positivity to each session—I want students to feel proud of themselves for trying and improving, even if it takes a few tries to get there. My tutoring is mainly for elementary and middle school students, especially those who need support with basic math skills, fractions, decimals, pre-algebra, or homework help. I’m happy to work with students who are either catching up or looking to get ahead. I can adjust my teaching style based on their class, grade level, or specific learning needs.
