About Evan

Hi! I’m a dedicated high school science teacher with 4 years of full-time classroom experience and hold a Master’s degree in Education. Science has been my passion, but my drive comes from helping students discover that science doesn’t have to be intimidating or overwhelming.

Throughout my career, I have taught Biology and Physical Science in both Middle and High School settings. I’ve worked with hundreds of students featuring all different learning styles, academic goals, and confidence levels. Whether you are aiming to push a B to an A, struggling to keep up with fast-paced lectures, or preparing for high-stakes exams, I know how to meet you right where you are and help you to succeed.

Outside the classroom, I am deeply involved in youth leadership and hands-on outdoor education as a Scoutmaster, which heavily influences my teaching style. I believe in patience, clear communication, and empowering students to take ownership of their learning.

My goal as a tutor isn’t just to help you pass your next quiz; it’s to give you the study tools, conceptual understanding, and academic confidence that will serve you throughout school and beyond.

As an active high school science teacher with 4 years of classroom experience and holding a Master's degree in education, my goal is to make science approachable, intuitive, and engaging. I focus on breaking down complex biological processes, as well as physical science principles, using real-world connections, interactive visuals, and step-by-step problem solving, moving away from dry memorization so concepts stick.

Each session is tailored to you and your goals. We would start with a warm-up to review prior material or old homework, and then we would move into targeted instruction. The remaining time would be used for guided practice, using practice problems, going over lab concepts, and feeling out exam strategies.

What sets me apart is that I am in the classroom every day. I know current state standards, testing formats, and grading rubrics, allowing me to give students the exact tools they need to succeed. Above all, I create a patient, supportive environment where questions are always encouraged and mistakes are viewed as a way toward mastery.

My lessons are typically designed for high school students who are taking Biology, General Physical Science, or Chemistry, who want to boost their grades, prepare for exams, or simply rebuild their confidence in STEM; however, I am able to rapidly adjust my lessons to fit the needs of any student.
