About Joey
My name is Joey Menendez and I would love the opportunity to serve you as a tutor.
A little about me. I was in private and independent school education for over 21 years. I began as a middle school math teacher where I taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 for 6 years. After receiving my Masters in Education Leadership from Columbia University, I taught math part-time in High School teaching mainly Algebra 2.
I have tutored students of all ages and subjects from Middle School math to Precalculus.
I try to make learning math easy and fun! I believe in making mistakes and learning from those mistakes so that we don't repeat the same mistake later. I call it failing forward!

My lessons are always focused on the needs of the student. I want to know where the struggles are and dive deep into finding solutions that will build confidence in learning math.
A typical lesson will always revolve around review and practice of fundamental skill building, followed by content learning, with quick assessments for understanding along the way. Mistakes are encouraged as it is through our mistakes where the most learning will take place!
Lessons are any level of math student who needs more understanding, is struggling to understand what it being taught in class, or needs to fine tune their skills in preparation for tests!
Subjects range from basic arithmetic to Precalculus with a strength in Algebra.
