About Tian

Hello, I am from Beijing, and Mandarin is my native language. I have always been passionate about exploring different cultures, which has given me the privilege of living and studying in Scotland for many years. Transitioning from a language learner to a language user has been a deeply transformative experience for me. Learning and using different languages not only allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of local cultures but also opened up new channels for accessing information, broadened my perspective on the world, and significantly reshaped my worldview.

About the lesson

My journey of mastering English and currently learning Spanish has given me a deep understanding of how languages are acquired and the many methods and resources that can make learning more effective. These personal experiences have shaped my teaching approach, enabling me to design lessons that are both engaging and adaptable to different learners. I believe learning Chinese is just like building with Lego—you start with basic pieces (words) and gradually construct more complex structures (sentences). In my lessons, I use a variety of immersive activities such as reading authentic texts, watching videos, practising listening exercises, and engaging in situational dialogues. This multi-sensory approach not only makes learning more enjoyable but also helps students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a balanced way. My goal is to create a supportive and interactive environment where students feel confident to experiment with the language, learn from mistakes, and progress quickly towards fluency
