About Poornima

If chemistry has ever felt like a foreign language, I understand — and I know how to help.

I am a PhD Chemical Engineer with six years of industry experience developing vaccines, food ingredients, and advanced materials at companies like Archer Daniels Midland and Balchem Corporation. I have published eight peer-reviewed scientific papers and hold a patent in RNA delivery technology. Chemistry is not just something I studied — it is something I do professionally every day.

That real-world depth is what I bring into every tutoring session. When we work through thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, or equilibrium, I connect those concepts to problems I have actually solved in a laboratory. That context transforms abstract theory into something tangible and memorable.

My approach is entirely student-centered. Every session begins with understanding exactly where you are and what is not clicking — then we rebuild from there. I explain concepts clearly, work through problems together, and guide you toward independent thinking rather than just giving you answers. My goal is not to get you through the next exam. My goal is to make you genuinely confident in chemistry.

I work with high school students in AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry, undergraduates in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering, pre-med students preparing for the MCAT, and students working on competitive science fair projects.

Whatever your level or goal, I will meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be.

About the lesson

I bring real-world industry experience into every lesson. As a PhD Chemical Engineer who has developed vaccines, food ingredients, and advanced materials professionally, I connect chemistry concepts to authentic applications that make them click. I adapt completely to each student — starting with understanding exactly where they're stuck, then rebuilding from there using clear explanations, worked examples, and guided problem-solving. I teach students how to think through problems, not just solve them. I work with high school AP and IB Chemistry students, undergraduates in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering, pre-med students preparing for the MCAT, and competitive science fair students
