About Rachel

I’m a qualified Secondary English teacher based in the UK, with a PGCE in Secondary English and a Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish. I’ve spent over 9 years teaching English as a second language to a wide range of learners, from primary and secondary students to adults, both in schools and private tutoring settings. I’m multilingual, speaking English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish, which allows me to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds and support those who are learning English as an additional or foreign language. I’ve always had a passion for language, communication, and human connection. Teaching gives me the opportunity to bring those passions together. I love interacting with people, inspiring confidence, and building genuine relationships with my students. My approach is didactic, structured, and patient, but also friendly and adaptable. I take pride in making my lessons engaging and clear, guiding each student step-by-step at a pace that suits them. I teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others grow. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a student gain confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.

About the lesson

As a qualified Secondary English teacher with a PGCE and over 9 years of experience teaching English as a second language to primary and secondary students as well as adults, my approach is student-centred, adaptive, and results-driven. I hold a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish and am fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish, an asset that helps me better support multilingual learners and those learning English as an additional or foreign language. I use adaptive teaching methods, tailoring each lesson to the individual learner's needs, goals, and learning style. Whether you're preparing for exams, looking to improve academic writing, or building confidence in spoken English, lessons are designed around you. I implement scaffolding techniques, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, and provide step-by-step guidance to help students build understanding and independence. My lessons are supported by tailor-made teaching materials that I design to align with the student's current level and learning goals. Lesson durations are flexible, typically lasting between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the student's preference and focus areas. My students range from young learners in primary school to teenagers in secondary education and adults at various stages of their English learning journey.
