About Dave

I have been teaching the Sciences for forty years in selective and non-selective schools in the state and private sectors. As twice Head of Science Faculties, I organised many Key Stage 3 and 4 courses covering all the sciences. In addition, I have run Chemistry departments and taught the subject to A level and also, occasionally, Physics A level. I have degrees from two universities and a teaching qualification from another.
As a visiting lecturer at Sheffield Hallum University, I worked on projects to inspire young scientists with academics such as Brian Cox (now the TV Prof), Prof Steve Sparks and Sir Paul Nurse.

About the lesson

I believe it is possible to inspire any age and level by being sensitive to the student's preferred learning style. I adapt my approach during the lesson according to feedback from the student until each one achieves their full potential.
I usually prepare a presentation or materials which are saved to the student's own cloud folder for later review or revision. Where experiments or demonstrations are safe to do in front of a second camera, these will be carried out live. Otherwise, I will use multimedia online resources to illustrate the subject content.

Details

Reductions available for GCSE or Key Stage 3 teaching and sometimes for midweek daytime lessons.
The first 30mins with client (discussion) or student (lesson) is not charged.
Since each lesson require a significant time to prepare and slots becoming available at the last minute are difficult to fill with other students, lessons cancelled at less than 48 hours notice incur a cancellation charge equivalent to one hour of the agreed rate.
