Highly experienced (10+ years) secondary and tertiary education teacher, lecturer, and tutor. 15+ years of professional business, consulting, and corporate experience to draw on for practical examples and case studies. Life-long learner with multiple degrees and post-graduate qualifications in business and education, including MBA, BA, B App Sci, Grad Dip Ed, Cert IV Training & Assessment. Registered teacher (VIT) with outstanding results in Business Management, Business Strategy, and Marketing subjects.

I have a very flexible and engaging approach to helping students make the most of their talents and opportunities. I employ evidence-based high-impact teaching strategies and practices that reliably challenge and empower my students to increase learning, build self-belief, self-confidence, and develop pride in their results and academic achievements.
In supporting students to accelerate their learning, the things that I know matter most include creating a positive climate for learning, setting and communicating clear goals and expectations for each session, and helping students understand the criteria for success.
I always begin with understanding where the student is at in terms of prior learning, motivation, current knowledge and understanding, subject interest, and goals. In particular, I focus on student learning readiness, learning profiles, monitoring learning progress, and adjusting and tailoring my tutoring and teaching to each individual pupil.
I want all my students to experience challenge, success and improved learning, and to achieve the results they want and desire. Students learn best when they feel safe, secure, happy and motivated – and having fun.
To maximise learning time, sessions need to be structured with appropriate steps, transitions and worked examples to build students’ knowledge and skills, with a mix of theory and practice, success and challenge, and incorporating opportunities to demonstrate understanding and apply learning.
Questioning, testing, and feedback are all critical elements of good teaching practices I employ. I like to keep parents informed and regularly updated on student progress.
I also like to help students develop an awareness of their own learning, how and when they learn best, and how to drive and sustain their own focus and motivation to learn. This includes developing productive study skills and habits, research skills, planning, organisation and setting study priorities, and effective exam strategy and preparation.
