About Pamela

I am a recently retired math professor with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience at the Community College level. Been teaching and tutoring via Zoom since COVID lockdown. I have found that teaching and learning mathematics is more effective on a one on one basis, due to the wide variety of learning styles and expertise amongst students in a class setting. Mathematics provides an effective way of building mental discipline and encourages logical reasoning and mental rigor. In addition, mathematical knowledge plays a crucial role in understanding the contents of other school subjects such as science, social studies, and even music and art.

About the lesson

I will find out what you need help with, explain the concepts and show examples, then assess your understanding by seeing how you solve the problems. I will break down any necessary underlying concepts that may not be clear to you. We will start with what you understand and build from there. I encourage lots of questions and open dialogue.

Ms. Pamela and I met through her teaching 3 of my math courses. I hated math. I never understood it. I always thought it was because I couldn’t understand it, but Ms. Pamela changed that for me. She would sit with me and would break it down to the basics and build from there. Now, in the end, l didn’t come to have this weird love for math not at any fault of Ms. Pamela, but it is no longer as daunting because of Ms. Pamela. For all three mathematic courses, I had to take I had taken with Ms. Pamela. She goes above and beyond to get the job is done!
