Hi, I'm Eric Menakaya – Educator & Tutor
I'm an educator and school administrator with over 30 years of teaching and leadership experience across the United States and Nigeria. I hold a PhD in Educational Administration and have spent my career helping students build confidence, improve academically, and reach their full potential.
I'm a native Igbo speaker and offer Igbo language tutoring for learners at any level. This is great for families and individuals looking to connect with their Nigerian heritage or build bilingual fluency.
I also offer tutoring in Biology, World History, and ESL.

What Sets Me Apart
I'm a 75-year-old educator who has spent a lifetime in classrooms and schools. I am a teacher, principal, and curriculum designer across the U.S. and Nigeria. I bring not just knowledge, but wisdom, patience, and genuine care for every student I work with. I may be seasoned, but I'm passionate, tech-friendly, and fully committed to making virtual learning engaging and effective for every student.
Teaching Methods & Techniques
I believe every student learns differently, and my job is to figure out what works best for you. Over my 30+ years in education, I've developed a warm, patient, and structured approach that meets students where they are. I use positive reinforcement, real-world examples, and gentle but consistent practice to build confidence alongside skill. Whether a student is struggling or simply wants to get ahead, I create a supportive space where they feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Every virtual session starts with a friendly check-in and a quick review of what we covered last time. From there, I introduce the day's topic in a clear, step-by-step way, work through examples together on screen, and then give the student a chance to practice with my guidance. We always close with a short check for understanding, so I know exactly where to pick up next time. My goal is for every student to leave each session feeling like they learned something and enjoyed doing it.
Who the Lessons Are For
My virtual tutoring is open to all K–12 students, wherever you are in the world! I specialize in English, Math, and ESL for students at any grade level. I also offer Igbo language lessons for beginners, heritage speakers, and anyone in between who wants to connect with the language and culture. All sessions are held online, making it easy and convenient for families with busy schedules.
