About Sheeba

I work as a pathophysiology tutor for a nursing BSN program in Houston and have my medical degree so my background in science is very strong.

In addition, the intense schooling I've gone through has really taught me how important getting the basics is and how easy it is for students to fall through the cracks when they don't want to look silly in front of others, so I'm happy to answer all questions and go back as far as need be to help students do well.

I use concept maps and diagrams on a virtual whiteboards so students have a visual to look at as well as my words, which I've found to be very helpful with online tutoring!

I love that moment where the idea clicks for students, and they start making connections between concepts without prompting.

I like putting in the work to find out how each student best learns and figuring out new ways to explain information so that it makes sense to that individual student.

I have an MD, and have been working as a pathophysiology tutor for nursing students at a university for the past four years, so my science background is very strong.

About the lesson

I like to have an initial meeting where I just sit and chat with students to figure out what exactly they're struggling with - is an issue with how to study in general, the specific material, a need to review old background material to make the newer information make sense? I also like to find out how they learn best - visual, auditory, kinetic - and recommending different options for them to try out - videos, concept maps, study groups, recording lectures, etc.

My goal is to not just help students get good grades, but to help them develop individual study habits and routines that work the best for them!
