About Caylah

My main focus at C.Kay English Tutoring, is to assist students in keeping up with current high school or college English curriculum, while expanding their own personal interests and skills. I cater to the specific need of the student, whether it be a focus on grammar, essay writing, reading comprehension, or even creative writing. I, Caylah Kay Matos was a tutor at the Writing Center at DCC in 2016, while I studied, and I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I intend to apply these same tools to help students thrive during a time that is taxing on the traditional classroom setting.

I have had a passion for writing and poetry since I was a young girl, and my love for English has only grown the more I have learned. Majoring in English at SUNY Dutchess, I was given the opportunity to work as a peer tutor. I founded C.Kay Tutoring in hopes to help students discover a love for words, and enrich their student experience by giving them the tools they need to succeed in a time when online learning may be the only option.

I graduated from my hometown high school with a 4.0 GPA. While in high school, I took serveral AP classes, was selected as student of the month, had my poetry published in the school's literary magazine, and was a member of the Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. I continued my studies at SUNY Dutchess where I majored in English and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In college, I was also selected to join Advanced Composition, where I began tutoring fellow students. I am excited now to have the opportunity to once again help students, especially in a time where students are being robbed of time in the classroom.

About the lesson

Our typical method for ensuring the most productive session with a new student is to get to know the needs and strengths of each student. Once these are highlighted, I will give the student supplemental work that will paralell their current ciriculumn. Adjusting to the specific demands of the student is a constant process here at C.Kay English Turoring.
