About Abby
I have a bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in creative writing from the University of Glasgow. I currently teach ESL and tutor students of all ages. I'm passionate about helping students learn how to push past writer's block and articulate their thoughts in well-formed essays. I offer services in literature tutoring, essay writing and editing, and English as a second language. I love connecting with students and making them feel like they are capable of doing things they thought they couldn't before.
I love people. I've always been naturally drawn to teaching in every place I've ever been, so tutoring was just something that came along naturally. I also teach kids in a range of ages martial arts, and I feel that teaching something really different has given me a unique and adaptable perspective when it comes to teaching. I love the challenge of adapting to students' needs and seeing them really understand something that is challenging to them.
I completed my bachelor's degree in English literature from the University of Georgia and then my master's in creative writing from the University of Glasgow. I currently tutor high school students in English and writing, as well as ESL.

I like to ask students what subjects they enjoy before asking what they struggle with. Usually students have some negative associations with subjects that are difficult for them, so I like to connect the difficult things to something they enjoy. I want students to feel comfortable enough to voice that they don't understand something when they don't, which allows us to start from an honest place.
