About Caroline

I am a senior atteniding University of North Texas. I am currently in my clinical teaching practice in Argyle ISD. I will be graduating in December 2021 with an Elementary Education EC-6 with ESL certification. I have 4 years of experience as an after school tutor for elementary students up to sophmore curriculum. I have aspirations to become a High School Algebra or Geomentry teacher after a few years of teaching elementary.

I knew I wanted to persue teaching my junior year of High School when I had a teacher that really helped me build my confidence as a learner. I have always loved helping others and I want to help children build a positive identity as learners.

I have attended University of North Texas for the past three and a half years taking education courses and volunteering in Denton ISD, Argyle ISD, and Lewisville ISD. I worked at a preschool for three years until I began student teaching this semester. I have taken training courses and practice exams to prepare for my certification exams.

About the lesson

First I will establish a positive rapport with the new student, I will ask questions and listen to what the students believes are their strengths and weaknesses. I will prepare mini-lessons that focus on improving their needs. I will review homework, assignments, tests/quizes and give tips and strategies for decoding a question.

I have worked with preschool aged children up to sophmores in high school. I have spent most of my time in elementary in inclusive classrooms. I have worked with many ESL students from various languages. I am not bilingual, but I know how to modify and accomodate lessons to meet the linguistic needs of all my ESL students. I have also worked with students in special education during my time voluntering and teaching in Denton and Argyle ISD.
