About Betty

I am a lifelong educator, having held professional certificates in 4 states with endorsements in English, Social Studies, and Latin. My current part time position requires me to help homebound students with a variety of subjects and skills. My experience includes teaching in upper elementary, middle school, and high school settings and filling positions in public, private, Christian, alternative, and juvenile offender facilities. I have had extensive training in learning disabilities and behavior disorders. I offer a world of experience with students in many different educational settings. ( I could tell you stories...unfortunately they are confidential.) My best educational tools are a sense of humor and a desire to make learning as much fun as possible.

Teaching has been my passion since, as a small child, I lined up my dolls in a "school" under the kitchen table. In the course of helping students reach their goals, I enjoy watching the proverbial "light come on." I don't consider a grade in a class to be the ultimate success. Young people need strong doses of self esteem and pride in their accomplishments. For me, building a relationship with students and watching them come alive with enthusiasm for learning is the ultimate fun.

Thirty-five years of teaching experience in all sorts of venues from private school to facilities for juvenile offenders.
