About Natalie

I proudly serve as a tutor of English, writing, essay revision, grammar, and test preparation. My students bring perpetual joy. My most ardent commitment is serving them well.

I graduated from Saint Mary's College Notre Dame and served in the classroom for nine years. I now teach several online classes and conduct a variety of tutoring sessions. I am always ready to provide support however I can.

I enjoy listening to my students and learning with them. I particularly delight in finding ways to guide them as they accomplish their goals. The skills we work on together are challenging. However, they are worth the effort. I do all in my power to make our work fun and to find ways to exceed expectations.

I began tutoring regularly in high school. Then, in college, I thought for a time that I might like to work as a professor. However, I quickly realized I belonged in a different environment. I love adolescent minds: their creativity, their humor, their perpetual exploration of the world around them. I also welcomed that teaching in middle and high school and especially tutoring give me a unique opportunity to connect with my students. All of this hit me one day in college when I went to complete a quiz. My instructor asked me how my day was going. I just about fell out of my chair. No one except my family hours away had posed that question to me in a long while. I decided in that moment to become the educator who asks about her students and who genuinely cares about their lives as well as their learning.

I graduated from Saint Mary's College Notre Dame with a major in English literature and a minor in secondary education. I bring nine years of teaching experience and a lifetime of dedication to tutoring. I also hold an active teaching license and embrace opportunities to continue my own learning and growth.

About the lesson

Students are not created with cookie cutters. Each is unique and deserves to be respected as such. We set goals together. Honest communication builds authentic learning. I delight in getting to know what makes each student laugh, what challenges him or her, and (most importantly) how I can best become a part of the student's cheering section. I spend time discerning the areas where I can most help cultivate growth, and we go to work.

I have worked with traditional students, advanced writers, international students, students of varying learning aptitude...The list goes on. Because I have Glaucoma, I occasionally encounter people who assume I have to learn in a certain way. I reject the assumption and recognize varied learning styles. I absolutely commit to holding students' feet to the fire and challenging them appropriately. However, I also recognize the power of reasonably adapting learning techniques when needed for specific learners. Let's train students to advocate for themselves by sharing in the journey as they find their voices.
