About Mauricio

As a UCLA graduate, I have explored many ways of learning. Being able to teach the material is the best way to make sure it is understood. I like to ask my students how their learning is enhanced by different learning styles.

I enjoy seeing how my effort changes the lives of younger people. I was once a struggling student and going through the education system I did not succeed right away. Luckily I have tutored many diverse subjects and students making me a really flexible candidate to continue teaching.

By assesing the requirements and the level the student is in. If it's a specific assignment we stick with what need finish the assignment. If it's a broader concept; an evaluation and review will be more than necessary to the materail will be easier to review next time around.

I graduated from UCLA with an almost 4.0 GPA. I also hold a degree in math from a junior college and have worked as a tutor when I was paying my way through college. I found that being able to teach a concept was the best way to make sure one understoods the material. I intend to revisit this teaching structure for new learners.

I like getting to know how my student learns, what their objective is, and being honest with how to tackle the problem using critical thinking in English/Math. Patience is key because everyone learns differently, but one important point is to have consistency to review the fundamentals of the material. This way not only does it stick, if it can be made fun, then time will fly in learning.

I have worked with student from Middle School, High School, College and Graduate.

See their scope/breadth of knowlege. Sometimes a specialist with a PhD can explain the most about a subject that can lead you to a journey down an interesting career path you never knew existed. Always exercise your critical thinking skills and be flexible with different learning styles. You can always learn from someone in any academic setting, value their mentorship but also stick to your goals. A tutor helps you bridge the gap between understanding the basics and excelling in the topic.

The other day I went for a 3 mile run to my local park where I saw some wildlife. I am fond of this event because it showed me how the circle of life plays out even your own back yard! I saw a hearon wait patiently and capture a small red craw fish. I recorded it on my instagram and it made my day. A minor biology lab experiment in plain sight. The little things which bring happyness.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How are they specifically being challenged with the new material. Come up with the 3 simple questions for the tutor vs those that you can ask the teacher. If it's a missmatch with how the teacher is covering the materail, the tutor can find a new way to teach it to you. But be precise with your questions.
