About Nate
As of now, I am no longer tutoring, however, I would highly recommend Paige Neely's tutoring business at PaigestutoringLLC.com. She runs a high-quality Phoenix-based tutoring company with several excellent professional tutors.
I believe in a simple student-oriented approach to teaching. There's always a way for a student to learn a difficult concept, but there is no one-size-fits-all method of teaching. I consider it my duty to find and bestow a personalized teaching experience to every individual student.
I have four younger siblings; I've taught them all subjects of education at home for as long as I can remember, including creative writing, english, and reading comprehension.
An interesting fact about me: In the same week, I received an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology and my High School Diploma, technically graduating a 2-year college before highschool.
There are things I wish I knew and had as a highschool student. I'm here to offer the grammatical tricks, mindset hacks, and motivation that would have improved my school experience.
If you count my teaching siblings, I've been teaching since I was nine all the way to present-day. I've volunteered as a Staff Member for TeenPact Leadership Schools through their rigorous onboarding selection process, spent a month instructing in a wilderness environment, and then decided to become a math tutor for a few years, bringing students' grades from Cs to As!
I've completed two years of college math courses, including College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I With Applications, and Calculus II with Applications. I am currently willing to teach up to College Algebra.

When I am trying to teach someone something new, I usually ask them questions to feel out just how much they already know. When I have a good grasp of their understnding, I first begin to ask questions to try to guide them to their own conclusions with their own methods instead of handing them the answer my way. "Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." (-Albert Einstein) I walk with the student along their own path to success while offering advice from my own experience.
If they continue having difficulty understanding, I'll show them how to do it by showing them the steps, but still letting them solve the problems and show the work.
If after the question is solved and they still don't understand, I walk them through each step from the beginning, patiently ensuring they understand. (I've been in a clueless state before and impatience from the teacher exponentially increased my frustration.)
If the student still lacks confidence on the topic or concept, I'll help them through other examples and strengthen their foundation on the topic before returning to the question (though this measure seldom occurs).
I've worked with all students from first grade to college, specializing in highschool to college, but I am available for any grade.

Nate has been awesome! He communicated on his arrival time and was punctual everytime. My son was very apprehensive about having a tutor but after his first session he was eager to learn. Nate asked all the right questions and formed a connection making my son comfortable. I highly recommend Atlas! It's truly been a great experience for our whole family!
