About Cassie

I absolutely love what I do! I am a recently graduated certified teacher for grades K-5, and I also have a specialization in Middle School English!

I pride myself in my empathy for students and my ability to make students feel understood when they are having a hard time with learning. I want my students to feel proud of themselves for the work that they put in, and to feel confident in their abilities independently, by utilizing the skills and tools we work on together. The most important thing to me when working with students to improve their skills is trust. I want my students to be comfortable asking me any questions they may have, and most importantly, not be afraid to get things wrong and make mistakes. Students can only do that if a safe, trusting environment is established for them to feel like they can fail safely. This is always my mission with working with a student to better their skills and improve their education.

The element of my work that makes me the most proud of what I do, is helping my students feel proud, confident, and independent in their abilities. When I was a student, I did not have many teachers who made me feel like I should be proud for the things that I was accomplishing in school. To me, school was a job, and learning was expected of me. This wasn't an accomplishment-- it was what I was supposed to be doing. I want my students to know that the work they are doing is hard work and they deserve praise for every moment they try, not every test they pass. I make sure to allow my students to feel comfortable in their failing by building them up through their learning so they can be proud of themselves when they succeed. My favorite part of what I do is witnessing a student independently accomplish something they thought they wouldn't be able to. That beam of light that seems to radiate outwards when that sense of pride blooms in them, makes what I do worth every second.
