About Samantha

I am a recent graduate from Mount Saint Mary College where I double majored in Criminology and English. Before heading to graduate school, I will be expanding my family but in the meantime I would like to tutor children and young adults for the academic needs. I was an Honors student, a part of the English and Criminology honor socieities, and Ralph Scholar Award recepient, graduated cum laude, and had a 3.5 GPA. My love for reading and writing has allowed me to be a tutor for my fellow college students for 3.5 years so I am confident in my abilities to assist you or your student with their reading and writing needs.

I applied for the peer tutoring position at Mount Saint Mary College as a freshman and got accepted. After some training, I immediately was scheduled with a variety of college students, ranging from Sociology to English to Philospophy, though English is my favorite subject to tutor.

About the lesson

I like to spend a few minutes to get to know the student. Concepts and theories are so much easier to understand when they are related to our lives, so knowing the student's grade or age and what they like to do in their free time alllows me to make these comparisons.

I have only tutored college students ages 18-40 but with I am not unfamiliar with childhood studies as I have younger siblings at home that I oftentimes help.

Be sure you connect with the teacher. In my eighteen years as a student, the most impactful teachers were those who connected with me and met me where I was, so to speak. I will be sure to meet you or your student where he or she is and make learning a fun experience.
