I started teaching in 2003 in my last year at New England Conservatory of Music. At the time, I was teaching adults who were signing up via Craigslist. This gave me a unique perspective as I found that adults, while often lacking time to practice, are able to learn much faster than children because of the more mature intellect. What I realized was that anyone can benefit from music lessons if the desire to participate is there, no matter what the pace of learning.

Our teachers have degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston University, The Longy Conservatory of Music, the Peabody Conservatory, and plenty of other top tier programs. In addition to being stellar performers, many have specific training that focused on pedagogy.

About the lesson

When a new student approaches us, we first find out what it is that he or she would like to accomplish with our lessons. Some students and/or their parents are looking to take our instruction very seriously and pursue a professional track. Others are simply looking to enrich their lives or that of their children.

Whatever your goals or desires, we are happy to pair you up with an instructor who can help you achieve your goals.

The students enrolled in the Maestro Musicians Academy come from a variety of backgrounds. We are successfully teaching children in both public and private schools, children with special needs, and children whose parents come from all walks of life.

Make sure that the teacher can communicate well. Music is a language and in order to learn the tools needed to make music, a teacher needs to be able to be patient and observant. A good teacher will help you see a seemingly insurmountable project from start to finish by holding your hand when necessary but also pushing you beyond your comfort zone when appropriate. Personality and chemistry are hugely important and this applies to students of all ages.

Every year we hold two recitals - one in February and one in June. It makes us proud to see our students perform and show our community what they have learned. Our student recitals are a testament to the fact that music lessons instill confidence, promote positive self expression, and build character.
