About Sharon

I like to take the time to make sure my students are enjoying learning the guitar. I'm also flexible with scheduling, so if lessons interfere with soccer games or T-ball practice, I'm happy to adjust to your schedule.

I love seeing my students' eyes light up when they learn something new. I also enjoy listening to them nail a performance after working so hard to practice the piece.

I started teaching when friends requested my help. Since then, I have offered my services to others, and when I found out how much I loved teaching, I decided to do it more professionally.

I have taught guitar formally for four years, and on a more casual basis for 14 years before that. I started learning the guitar at age 11, and loved it. I have a bachelor degree in psychology, and have a lot of experience teaching children.

About the lesson

I like to go by what my student wants to learn. Some students want to learn guitar like most other instruments, note by note, chord by chord. Others want to work toward playing and writing their own music. I like to accommodate each student's individual learning style.

I have taught children, teens and adults. I have taught novice students as well as intermediate students.

I would recommend having a firm idea of what you want to accomplish. Maybe you would like to learn to read notes and perform for others. Maybe you would like to start a band or play your own compositions. Once you decide, find a teacher that fits you and your dream.

Recently we wrapped up our "Guitar Under the Stars" recital. I never tire of watching my students do well!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Decide whether you would like to use a guitar method, and which one you prefer, or whether you would like to use a more informal approach. Decide how long you want to take lessons and What you want to learn the most.
