About Anneliese

I am a lifelong learner, excited to ignite that passion in young minds. My background is in art, so my problem-solving approach is often out-of-the-box. I believe that any subject can be an opportunity to grow as a person. My greatest sense of accomplishment comes from seeing students learn to believe in themselves.

I enjoy watching students realize they are capable of exceeding their expectations

I started as a para-educator in preschool and continued that career for two years. Since 2018, I have been teaching public high school. I teach Art as well as Journalism.

In 2014 I graduated with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Emporia State University with a 3.6 GPA. I then returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. My second degree focused on Fine Arts for Kindergarten through twelfth grade.

About the lesson

It is imperative to evaluate a student's interests and needs to determine the best course of study. I often evaluate where a student's skills are by asking them to write a small creative piece with little guidance. This gives me an idea of where they are so we do not waste time going over what is already familiar. We will build on these skills while finding avenues to do so that relate to the student's interests.

I have firsthand experience with preschool, kindergarten and high school.

Tell me your interests! One of the easiest ways to learn is to build on what you know! Are you interested in engines? Great! Let's find literature that will inspire you with its humanization of machinery. More of an athlete? Perfect, let's view themes of friendship within Shaquille O'Neal's autobiography. It is important to me that learning feels interesting to you.

I recently climbed my first mountain! I took the Barr Trail to the summit of Pike's Peak! It was an extremely exciting and simultaneously humbling experience.
