About Maddie

Hello,

I am a senior college student currently studying at Simmons University in Boston. I am working towards my bachelor's in psychology and my master's in elementary education and special education. I have ample experience teaching children, I taught swim lessons for a year and have worked in a daycare for the past two years. I am currently a certified infant, toddler, and preschool teacher. I am looking to tutor elementary school students in math, english, science, reading, or social studies.

I have always had a love for working with children! I am so excited to finally be on the career path to become an elementary and special education teacher! I truly enjoy helping students to work through difficult topics and develop an understanding of their school work. I am always insprired by children's eagerness to learn and love watching them grow!

I got started teaching with my first job as a swim instructor. I began my journey by teaching children ages 3 months to 12 years how to swim and be safe around water. In this position, I taught small group lessons as well as individual lessons for students with learning/physical disabilities, including autism. From there, I became a daycare teacher and spent most of my time as a toddler teacher. Through this experience, I earned my EEC teaching certifications for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. In this position, I created and executed developmentally appropriate lesson plans, communicated effectively daily with parents about student's progress and day, and created meaningful and trusting relationships with my students.

I am currently in my senior year of college, this year I will be finishing my bachelor's degree in psychology and next year I will graduate with my master's degree in education and obtain dual licensure for elementary and special education. I have taken several courses that pertain to education, including those on reading methods, common core math, educating diverse learners, and teaching students with disabilities.
