When I'm introduced to any person, I have to give them an a chance to speak, and I listen. This is a vital part of communication, listening. I want students to be engaged in the learning process by not just me giving lectures, but they putting in feedback. And the best way to do that is to let them talk about the things they enjoy. As long as they are positive, I'm willing to continue to listen to them.
I like teaching mathematics quite a lot. But I know there are other things in life also that interest people. So I must be open-minded, and diverse.
