About Carreen

I come from a family of teachers and have always loved sharing my love of math. Even as young as middle school, I enjoyed helping my classmates with math topics they were struggling with.

I graduated with a B.S. in Math and Economics from University of Richmond. I have previous experience tutoring Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Algebra, and have worked in a 5th grade classroom an love tutoring math to elementrary and middle schooers. I also received a 790 on the Math section of the SAT and would also love to help if anyone needs help getting a higher score on the SAT.

About the lesson

First, I like to set up a meeting with a new student to discuss what their objectives are for the sessions and which areas they want to focus on. I can also look at previous homework assignments and tests to get an understanding of which areas we should focus on to start.

I like to start with going over concepts and finding the best method of explaining topics for each student. I have found the key to getting students to excel at math is finding the way of thinking about math that makes the most sense to them as individuals.

Find a teacher that can explain math in terms that work for you and how you think! I strongly believe everyone can excel at math and it just takes looking at it the right way. I've seen how people who think they are bad at math gain confidence when a topic is just explained in a different way!
