About Andrei
I have been helping students from age kindergarten trough high school improve their Math scores and academic performance for over a decade. I understand that every student learns differently, and I strive to meet you at wherever your level of current mastery is. I specialize in K-12 Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and College Algebra. I have an outstanding track record of helping students set and reach their academic goals for Math. I have helped many students raise their core Math class grade 1-2 grade levels consistently, and score better on their Math Assessments. I am friendly and personable, and love helping students. I don't have a one-size-fits all approach, I cater my lessons and teacing style to fit the individual student. I have worked with students with very low starting comprehension of Math as well as students with high levels of compresension that need to be challenged. However you need your student supported, I can do it.
I love supporting students in reacing their academic goals and helping them raise teir overall confidence in mathematics
I got started teaching by being a teaching artist in community based organizations. I started out with teaching afterschool enrichment programs, and sifted into mentoring youth, and then supporting them academically.
I am a youth development professional of over 15 years. During that period of time, I have undergone numerous professional development trainings targeted at cultivating positive professional relationships with youth. What I can say about my tutoring style is that I connect with my students in a way that allows them to be able to let their guard down around me and create a space where true learning can happen, because an appropriate tutor-student relationship has been established. Building these relationships with students is how I have been able to reproduce successful results with over 80% of my students raising their math score at minimum one whole letter grade.

When I first meet with a student I like to gather as much information as possible. I want to know the student's current attitude about math, what they like and dislike about math, so I talk to them and/or their parent, and I give them an online skills assessment.
After evaluating a student's strengths and areas of improvement I will put together an individual learning plan that supports stregthening a student's areas of improvement while also supporting them on topics that are currently relevant to their core math class or personally chosen area of focus.
I have worked with diverse groups of students: I have worked with students who have IEPs and are diverse learners, I have worked with students who are advanced among their peer group and need support with more challenging content. I have worked with students grade levels K-12, and I have supported college level students as well.
Hire a teacher that is willing to meet you where you're at in terms of your learning style and skill level. It will help a lot if you get along with your tutor. Because if you have good chemistry together, learning is much easier.
