About Dana

Hello! My name is Dana, and I am an undergraduate senior at DePaul University. I am studying to become a high school Algebra and Calculus teacher, and I will be pursing an MEd in Math Education after graduating in November 2020.

My goal is to educate young people and equip them with practical knowledge about the world around them. While math is not everyone's favorite subject, I provide a friendly and low-pressure learning environment where mistakes are welcomed and progress is not always linear. Growing up, I had a love/hate relationship with math that was partially due to my learning environment, so I want to make sure that students have an opportunity to absorb as much helpful information as possible without it being overwhelming. Young people are our future, and their education and well-being are top priorities in my eyes.

The best part about tutoring is the satisfaction a student gets when they come to understand a concept they thought they would never comprehend. The joy and relief it brings them is hugely rewarding, and it never fails to make me smile.

I come from a long family line of teachers and educators, and while I did not always see myself as one, I always had a passion for helping others grow. My focus switched from genetic counseling to high school education during my time at DePaul, and since then I have been 100% committed to providing a welcoming learning environment for my students.

About the lesson
