About Nikolai
I really take the time to make sure my students understand not only the problems being asked, but the underlying concepts and fundamentals of the problem, so that when they come across that content again, they're ready to take it on!
Often, I see students struggle to like math not only because they don't understand it, but because they don't see the real world application of it. In other words, often students think "so what? i'll never use this, so why should I care?" This is a dangerous mindset for any subject, not just math. Hence, a big part of my work is getting the students to see not only how to do the problems they are working on, but WHY these concepts and problems are important for their success in the real world.
I love mathematics, and love to get students as excited as I am about it! I get a thrill out of seeing a concept "clicking" for someone.

First, I'll definitely take some time to get to know the student personally: What are their goals in life, why they are seeking help, and what they hope to get out of my service. I offer a free consultation with the student - I think it's really important to note that tutors are NOT a "one size fits all..." If I believe I can help the student, and the student would enjoy working with me, it's at that point where we can start our lessons :)
