Dear Thought-followers

Mathematics has been the prime joy of my life through the discovery of all its hidden beauty. What may seem hard at first, can be revealed to be obvious when just that *click* happens in our heads. Now, we can appreciate it more and possibly recognize it in our daily lives. This is what I want to achieve with my students: the *click* and the appreciation that follows.

I developed my love for maths at the age of 9 and have since regularly assisted my friends and soon thereafter started tutoring privately. Fifteen years later, I am pursuing my masters degree in mathematics at the University of Göttingen in Germany, represented my home country of South Africa a total of 4 times at international maths competitions since the age of 12, tutored at all levels of high school and undergraduate maths, and all the while fall further in love with my passion for maths.

Now is my chance to fill your thoughts too with mathematics and its elegance all around us.

I have 15 years of tutoring students a level or more below me starting late primary school stretching to my current Masters degree in Mathematics. I achieved cum laude in my previous Bachelors Honours degree in Mathematics. I have represented my home country 4 times in international mathematics competitions since a young age.

About the lesson

First, I want to get to know the student and how their brain works. Do they enjoy many examples, and how many is necessary usually? What other passions do they have that I could use for examples to make them more intuitive possibly? How much can they bite off a cookie (problem) at a time and still chew it easily? Then I take that information and tailor the tutoring to my best ability to suit them best.

I have worked with students ranging from ages 10 to 21. I have tutored students that were already strong at maths and could go fast, as well as students behind in maths for their age that needed slow introductions.
