About Alvin

I have been a tutor for almost 3 years now and I love what I do. I specialize in math; I've tutored students throughout high school and continue to do so in college. I've mainly taught algebra, elementary and middle school math, but I also have a firm understanding of statistics and calculus. I provide games for students in order to learn new concepts and work through problems on a real-life basis to keep them more engaged. A little more about me - I am studying at UC Irvine's Merage School of Business for marketing and information systems.

I work as the operations manager of a small company, and the achievements I have reached so far are in thanks to the support in my community. I want to give back what I've so graciously received, and educating young minds has always been a passion of mine. I've previously been a swim instructor for two years as well, and fostering a passion for the student and watching them grow is a hugely worthwhile experience. I'm dedicated in providing an education in which students can find joy from thorough understanding and learning.

About the lesson

Mathematics lessons offered by Alvin are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Hayward. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.

I asked Alvin to help teach 5th grade math to my daughter. She was struggling in school a lot with her math and she hated studying it at home too. I thought I'd give Alvin a try, and in the span of a month, I was already seeing significant improvement. I stopped by for a lesson, and my daughter was enjoying herself since Alvin was so engaging. He taught my daughter for about a year's time before he became too busy and I was sad to see him go. If you ever have doubts, don't hesitate! You won't regret it.
