About Catherine

Hi! My name is Catherine and I love to spend time tutoring children. I have done so through my high school and university, and will be able to apply skills I have learned from those experiences to online tutoring. I graduated last year (Summa Cum Laude) and am in college now, majoring in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism, Biology, with a minor in Cognitive Science. Throughout high school, I tutored children, completed my Girl Scout Silver and Gold Awards, and was the president of the Special Olympics club at my school. In college, I have spent my time working at a music hall and volunteering at the hospital. I hope to use my communication, time management, and leadership skills when tutoring!

I started tutoring because of my love for working with young children. Working with kids has been something that always comes easy to me, and I would love to use my skills to help them learn.

I usually love to start by getting to know the student: what are their hobbies, what classes have they taken in school so far, what is their general background, academically and socially?

I then like to slowly start by asking general questions: do you like math? How have you applied those skills to your everyday life?

I love to engage with the student by being their friend, rather then just a higher-level teacher. This tends to work more effectively, as the kids become more engaged in what they are learning as well.



I have worked with students from Kindergarted to High School. I have tutored and been involved with the special olympics club at my high school.



I finished my Girl Scout Gold Award after sewing over 250 portacath pillows for cancer patients. This is an issue that I am very passionate about supporting, so I was very proud of what I had been able to accomplish!
