About Elizabeth

I am a teacher with a passion for my student's reaching their highest potential! I know a child can achieve anything they set their mind to with hard work! Making clear goals, and practicing skills are keys to student success!

I have taught chemistry in a fast paced school with high needs and limited services, which has helped me to overcome a lot of my own hurdles. I know the benefits of individualized attention for learning, and can help a student try different study techniques to find out what works best for them!

I had great relationships with my teachers, and a college professor suggested I think about a teaching program, and I thought, and applied, and I completed it, and the rest is history!

I have a Bachelors in biochemistry, and a Masters in Education.

I have worked as a teacher for 3 years so far, immediately out of my Masters.

About the lesson

I like to do one session just to get to know the needs of the student ( What study strategies have they tried/not tried?) , How often we need to meet, and generally just more about the student as a person (What is the motivation for them being in tutoring? What are the fears about not being successful in tutoring?)

Then eash session, we can complete practice together, I can first show my process, then ask the student to show theirs and we can talk about how to get them to being able to talk about it as we work.

I have worked with general level students, honors level students, ESL-4 and 5 Level students (I mainly speak English, but can read a little Spanish.)
