About Simone

One of my greatest joys was watching my youngest sister, who disliked math for most of her life, do problems for homework confidently across our kitchen table, expressing "This is easy." Math is easy and this is what I hope to hear my students say.

Math is what made me gain a love for education. Simply stated, math is fun! There are exciting ways to make math interactive and educational. There are multiple ways of solving a math problem and my job is to help students find a method that suits them best. My goal is to spark a love of math in those who do not find math interesting and enhance the interest of students who find math entertaining. With patience, unique exercises, and fun activities, a student's love for math can grow to an extent that is unimaginable.

I have been helping students with math for several years, since my enrollment in community college. I assisted students with understanding math problems by conducting private study sessions and demonstrating problems in class on the board. I also assisted my siblings with their math problems up to and throughout their college education.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services from California State University, Los Angeles in 2017. I also possess certification in Veteran Services, which enhances my passion for helping people and improving the lives of individuals. My education includes courses in advanced mathematics including statistics, trigonometry, and Calculus.

My duty is to spark confidence and a love of education in my students.

I do not consider myself to be a teacher. I am a tutor who loves math, enjoys it, and I am good at it.

This depends on the age of my student. I typically ask a series of ten questions to gauge a student's comfort level and see what their goals are.

I also give a pretest of ten questions to also measure a student's understanding and level of math. Each problem represents a word that is unique to the student. For example, "Sarah is a basketball star and she loves math too." The word is revealed in the end, whether or not a student gets the problem right.

My approach is to make fun, this is universal.

I have worked with students in middle school, high school, and college levels. I have had a mixture of those who detested math, those who tolerated it, and those who loved it.

I would say be open to learning in a way that is different from what you are used to. Look for a tutor who can help you achieve your goals. The tutor should have set goals that are unique to the student. Look for a tutor who is not just knowledgeable, but patient as well.

I am a dog lover and I recently attended a taping of the "American Rescue Dog Show." Ten finalists were chosen to represent several categories, such as Best in Talking, Best in Wiggles, and Best in Snoring. Each animal was a rescue and the goal was to increase people's awareness of and foster an attitude of love towards rescue animals and their adoption.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
