About Katharina

I am a honors graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota (May 2020) and will be starting a PhD program at MIT in the fall in Chemical Engineering. I have been a tutor in math and chemistry since high school as well as a teaching assistant for organic chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering classes. I also have been very involved in STEM activies for K12 through Society of Women Engineers and am passionate about getting students of all ages excited about the subject. I will be available until the start of the Fall semester. Due to COVID-19, I am looking to work with students remotely.

I love helping people understand and become more passionate about STEM! It is amazing to see people light up when they understand a concept and reach a new understanding.

I had a teacher recommend that I start tutoring in high school and set me up with younger students that needed help! I continued in college as a teaching assistant and student mentor.

I have a degree in Chemical Engineer. I graduated in May of 2020, summa cum laude.

About the lesson

I really enjoy getting to know my students, learning their interests, and making sure that they know I care about and recognize that they have other things going on in their life. Plus, if we can connect to their hobbies, we will make better progress!

I have worked with students as young as middle and elementary school, all the way to teaching college level classes.
