About Nina
I started by tutoring my younger cousins when I was in elementary school, primarly with math. In high school I began offering my peers homework help as well as tutoring. During my high school and college years, I also worked as a pediatric dental assistant. I tutored many of the patients from that office and others through word of mouth. I began working for the DOE five years ago. I enjoy working with children of all ages very much and have the patience and know how necessary to help them.
I have been a Paraprofessional with the DOE for about five years now. I have worked with children for the past 12 years as a youth counselor, tutor, dental assistant, and babysitter. I also work with many children with behavior issues and special needs.

When meeting a new student I like to tell them a little about myself and ask them about their strengths and weaknesses in regard to school/education. I also encourage them to ask questions at any time.
I have worked with general education students ages pre-K to high school. I have also worked with children who have special needs and behavior issues.
I would advise that the student ask as many questions as they want, even if some questions seem silly. It's important to feel comfortable with someone you will be working with and also so so important to be honest! If you are not understanding something, I would encourage you to speak up. There are multiple ways of explaining things and it is my job to try eveything I can to help. I'm here for you!
I have been working in the regional enrichment centers put in place by the DOE during the Covid-19 outbreak to service the children of our city's first responders. Ages pre-K through high school are present at the site and every child's needs are unique. I have helped many children overcome their anxiety and fears to move forward to complete their assignments and goals and enjoy themselves even in this new scary setting.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would ask myself the following questions:
Do I have trouble concentrating in school?
Do I get anxious or nervous before or during tests or quizzes?
Do I have trouble finishing tests or quizzes?
What is an example of something that worked for me after not understanding something?
What are a few things my teacher had suggested to me that did not help me?
It's important to communicate these things so I can help you the best way I can.
