About Paritosh

I completed my Master's degree in sociology along with Bachelor's degrees in four years! I have extensive research experience and Teaching Assistant experience. I also tutored with a local program at my university during my time there and also worked at Kumon Math and Reading Center, helping kids in math, science, social studies, and reading comprehension among other subjects.

I like to explain concepts using ideas that students already understand or can relate to, so anything new that they learn can be added onto a foundational piece that they have mastered. I also like to provide students with a private, confidential space to discuss issues beyond academics.

I have taken Advanced Placement courses in several subjects in high school, and took Calculus III and Differential Equations in college. I also have degrees in psychology and sociology, and an understanding of higher-order concepts in both fields.

About the lesson

I like to establish what they already know and try to understand where they are having difficulty by having them explain their work to me. In doing so, I am to examine the gap in knowledge or missing link that exists in their understanding of the material.

(ex. In math, when trying to understand how to divide polynomials, first try to see if a student knows how to explain a polynomial, how to factor out a common term, etc.)

After a baseline of understanding is established, I hope to develop a routine where one concept can build upon another and a greater knowledge of concepts can be reached.

I have worked with students from kindergarten to upper level high school students and college students. I have worked with students from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and understand the need to tailor the tutoring experience to best serve students by mentoring them as well.
