About Makayla
I have been tutoring for the last 5 years with students of various ages. I currently teach Algebra 1 and Geometry. I love working with students and watching them succeed in mathematics.
My favorite part of tutoring is when students gain confidence in their math skills and can see themselves succeeding. I also love being able to explain math in different ways in order for students to understand concepts.
I entered college persuing a secondary education degree for mathematics. After I student taught and graduated, I got a job at a high school.
I have tutored students ages 14+. I spent 3.5 years tutoring fellow colleagues at the university I attended. I now teach Algebra 1 and Geometry at a high school. I have experience teaching concepts in Algebra 2, College Algebra, Calculus, and Statistics. I am certified to teach in grades 7-12, but can also tutor 6th grade math.

While working with a new student, it is important to learn what they already know. Most of the time I will ask students to complete a few smaller problems to determine how much I need to review in order to move on.
I have tutored students ages 14+. I have worked with students in general to honors level courses.
