About Myra
I teach small group classes and offer personal training at Phoenix Fitness and Martial Arts in the Innsbrook area. My clients range from 18-85. My experience includes training special populations, and those with limitations, including prenatal, post-partum, seniors, obesity, limited mobility, and post surgery. My programs are perfect for adults who want to lose weight, or gain strength and cardio fitness for purposes like a spartan race, keeping up with grandkids, getting your first pull-up or improving overall health.
I began my career as a personal trainer in 2008 after working with seniors at an assisted living community in Northern Virginia for several years. I loved working with seniors, and wanted to do more to promote independence for them. I left senior living to become a personal trainer because I wanted to help adults stay strong for a better quality of life. Since then, I’ve broadened my scope of practice to included adults of all ages.
My husband and I live in Short Pump, and have two daughters. We’re also licensed therapeutic foster parents. Outside of work I love gardening and playing guitar. My athletic background includes, competing on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster, four national bikini titles, and more recently, Jiu Jitsu Competitions. I've also been featured on the homepage of bodybuilding.com and had my workouts published by Men’s Health.
I believe what sets me apart from other trainers is my experience as a therapeutic foster parent and my experience working with seniors at an assisted living. Working with those two groups has taught me how to listen, empathize and make people laugh. But also how to push someone to do something that seems scary or impossible. I use these skills in training everyday. We have a wonderful team at Phoenix Fitness and Martial Arts and a friendly, welcoming group of members (go check out our reviews!) Thanks so much for checking out my story- if you have any questions, please shoot me a message! -Myra

I like to start with either a phone call or meeting to listen to the client's needs. Then we meet for a few training sessions to review strength training basics at Phoenix Fitness and Martial Arts in Henrico, VA. From there, we can either continue with personal training or if the client would rather a group strength training class they can jump right in.
I work with other great trainers at Phoenix Fitness and Martial Arts- between us, we can almost always accommodate the client's schedule.

Go meet the trainer and tour the gym. You'll know if it's a right fit based on how comfortable you feel.
I've recently competed on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster.
