About Alec
I’m a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching blends science with the arts, focusing on how physics interacts with cultural heritage. I place strong emphasis on non-destructive testing techniques such as XRF, IR imaging, and UV fluorescence. These tools reveal what lies beneath the surface of a masterpiece—without causing harm. I support students in learning how physical data informs decisions in art restoration and preservation. I have worked closely with art history students, conservators, and those passionate about the intersection of science and culture. My sessions often include case studies and hands-on exercises. I believe in making complex scientific ideas accessible and engaging for all learners. Together, we’ll explore how physics can unlock the hidden stories behind art.
