About Feronsy
Flute instruction can be a life-changing experience, especially for those embarking on their musical journey later in life. I specialize in working with adult learners, particularly those over 50, who may be returning to music after a break or discovering it for the first time. I understand that learning the flute is about much more than mastering notes; it’s about finding joy, confidence, and a deep connection to oneself through music. My teaching philosophy centers around patience, understanding, and flexibility. We begin by building a strong foundation with breathing exercises, posture awareness, and basic technique, ensuring that you’re comfortable and confident with the instrument. As you progress, we incorporate music that resonates with you, whether that’s classical masterpieces, light folk tunes, or contemporary pieces that bring out your personal style. I use a variety of resources to help each student, from personalized sheet music to play-along tracks and performance feedback. I also integrate mindfulness practices into our lessons, recognizing that the flute can be both a creative outlet and a form of relaxation. Through this holistic approach, I empower my students to connect with their own musicianship, explore their creativity, and enjoy the process of becoming a confident flutist, no matter where they start.

Flute instruction with me is about discovering how music fits you—your schedule, your interests, your physical comfort, and your personal goals. I work almost exclusively with adult students, often over the age of 50, who are reconnecting with their creativity or finally taking time to pursue a long-held musical dream. My approach blends structured, classical training with adaptable modern techniques like tone-shaping through breath work, guided improvisation, and feedback using visual audio tools. I also create personalized lesson plans that consider life demands, learning speed, and any physical limitations. If you’ve had negative experiences with music learning in the past, I aim to rewrite that story for you. My lessons are relaxed but focused, playful but purposeful. With patience, compassion, and structure, I’ll help you build a lasting relationship with the flute.
