About Jessie
Marine Biologist with experience in tutoring a variety of students, from GCSE through to university undergraduates. I am an enthusiastic and engaging tutor, who can adapt to a variety of learning styles and personal needs. I want to help GCSE and A-level students with personal tutoring through the year, but am particularly good with helping students prepare for exams, based on my own tricks to get me through it! I hated how daunting it was to sit in an exam and feel like your head is empty even though you've just spent 2 years preparing for this moment - so I had to work hard to make sure that when I got there, my best actually came out :) I would be delighted to pass on those tricks to others suffering through pre-exam nerves! Areas of expertise are Biology, History, Psychology and Maths.

I tend to take a holistic approach with each student based on what they find works for them to get facts, figures and the other important bits cemented in their memory! This can range from visual slideshows which prompt discussion about the topic at hand, or detailed written notes freely available to the student if they learn by reading. At every point I link back what we are learning to the specific section of the curriculum we are studying and give examples of how this knowledge may be used / questioned in the exams. For exam prep I like to go over past papers rigorously with the student, helping them to craft their own answers and later analysing mark schemes / model answers together in order to ensure that they achieve the maximum marks possible on the day, using the knowledge that they have studied.
