About Aurora
I am a graduate from Cornell University with a degree in Philosophy, and a Master's degree in Education and Social Change from the University of Miami. I am passionate about writing and I love helping students become strong and confident writers. I am patient and methodical in my teaching. For the past 3 years, I also helped students apply to college and provided assistance with writing their personal statements and resumes.

When it comes to writing, I follow a genre-based approach. This includes 5 steps: 1. Setting the context 2. Modeling 3. Joint construction 4. Independent construction 5. Comparing. We start by analyzing a piece of writing that is the same genre you wish to write in. Then I model how to write within this genre. Next we work together to construct a piece of writing. Once you feel ready, you write your own piece independently. The final stage involves comparing and contrasting your current written piece with another.
With SAT prep, I guide students to understand their strengths and weaknesses so we can create a plan to improve their scores on the reading section.
